WHAT IS DAN RIVER GRAND PRIX AND WHAT DO YOU OFFER?

Dan River Grand Prix Indoor Karting Center offers kart racing programs in a climate controlled, year round indoor setting. All of our karts are single seater karts. We do not have two seater karts.

We offer both family oriented kart rides as well as advanced competition kart racing. Our road course is nearly a quarter mile long and we offer three speed settings.

Kart Rides are five minutes long and are for anyone 8 years old or older and over 54" tall. Kart rides allow family members to drive seperate karts on the track and race eachother. Moms and dads can "race" their their kids in the Kart Ride group.

Advanced Youth Races are 8 laps long and are for age verified racers that are 10 to 15 years old who have proven that they can handle the faster racing speed.

Adult Races are 8 laps long and are for age verified racers that are 16 years or older.

Super Kart Races are our advanced races and they are 8 laps long and these are for adult racers 16 years or older who have proven that they can handle the advanced racing speed.

And finally, we offer League Races for our advanced racing customers. Visit our League Racing page for additional information.

We are NOT bumper karts and we do not allow any bumping, blocking or aggressive driving. Races are won by setting the fastest lap times. We are also not a concession go-cart center and we do not offer any two-seater karts. We do offer additional activities, including a selection of video games and hosting racing-themed birthday parties, corporate and church events.

HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE?

Children must be at least eight (8) years old and over 54" tall and weigh at least 50 pounds to ride. Kids who have demonstrated they are able to handle the karts and safely navigate the track without hitting anything MAY be allowed to move up to our Advanced Youth class.

Our insurance provider requires that a parent or legal guardian sign our liability waiver and release form for anyone under 16 years of age, or for anyone older than 16 that does not have a valid form of proof of age or anyone unable to sign on their own behalf. The waiver should be signed by your parent, but we also accept signatures from immediate relatives including Aunts, Uncles and Grandparents. We can NOT accept signatures from older siblings or a friend's parent. Please understand this is for insurance reasons. Once the waiver has been signed, that waiver is good for a year or until we have any changes in insurance providers.

Only age-verified racers who are 16 years or older will be allowed to race in the adult races.

Adults 16 and over must run a minumum of one Adult Race with ALL lap times under 34 second to qualify to move up to Super Karts.

DON'T YOU KNOW RUBB'N IS RAC'N?

Your safety and the safety of your fellow racers is our first priority. We hear the phrase "rubb'n is rac'n" a lot, and usually it's from someone trying to act big in front of their friends rather than focusing on following our safety rules. Rubbing is NOT racing.

Every true professional racer will tell you that rubbing is WRECKING and contact is not necessary to have a successful or fun race experience. Contact of any kind is not allowed here at Dan River Grand Prix. We hold our racers to a much higher standard which means you can race CLOSE but MAY NOT INTENTIONALLY HIT your fellow racers. We do not allow you to use the "bump and run" technique to move another driver out of your way. We have a strict CONTACT RULE. If you have a hard hit to any barrier, make intentional contact with a fellow racer, or demonstrate an inability to conrol your kart, your race will be over. If we feel your contact was deliberate or that your attitude is not condusive to safe racing with us, we may ban you from racing with us.

We feel it is also important for you to understand that our Customer Service standard is to mirror the attitude you bring with you to the Center. If you bring a great attitude and expect to have a safe, fun and enjoyable race, you will be greeted in return with a great attitude by our staff. If, on the other hand, you feel it necessary to disregard our safety rules or treat our equipment or our staff with disrespect, we return the favor. We hope you understand that due to our concern for your safety and the safety of other guests, we simply can not tolerate bad behavior here at the Center.
